Iran: The “Third Revolution” and the “Purge”

Excerpts from an article published by the state-run Fars news agency on Saturday, June 13, 2009:

June 12 must be marked as the “Third Revolution” of the Iranian people; People who have undertaken a momentous surgery [purge] on the eve of the fourth decade of the revolution in order to sterilize the system’s body from the influence of corruption, discrimination, bribes for the privileged, and injustice.

June 12 must be marked as the “Third Revolution” of the Iranian people; People who have undertaken a momentous surgery [purge] on the eve of the fourth decade of the revolution in order to sterilize the system’s body from the influence of corruption, discrimination, bribes for the privileged, and injustice.

Finally, after months of waiting, the period of rehabilitation and rebirth has come to chronicle a glorious fervor amid the blowing of antagonistic winds.

The results of the tenth elections demonstrated that those who had relied on the winds to gain victory at whatever the cost saw the ladder be taken away from underneath their feet.

Democracy must not be feared. If we set up the playing field correctly, then one can use democracy against liberalism.

June 12 demonstrated that the masses of people are not those seen in intellectual circles, coffee shops, [political] parties, syndicates, and chat rooms.

The election was a final blow to those dreams of colorful and velvet revolutions; Those who had come to provoke ethnicities, tribes, and religious minorities, instead of thinking about the strengthening of the system and the bolstering of its security belt.
