NCRI – “Polling stations in both the prosperous north of Tehran and the working class south were sparsely attended,” Guardian reported today from Tehran.

"The people you see voting here [a working class district around Shohada] are people employed by the government, and who depend on the government. Ordinary people do not have a good life and they don't vote," Guardian quoted a security officer who watches over the voting.

"Of my family and friends, not 1 percent are going to vote. All the people on the list are the same. It's all the same regime," he added.

According to reports from Tehran and many other cities by the network of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) inside Iran, polling stations are deserted and the number of voters hardly reached five in many stations in the first three hours.

PMOI’s call for boycott of Elections has been welcomed by Iranian people.   In a nationwide campaign over the past two months which started by distribution of millions of leaflets and dispatch of emails, a number of supporters of the Iranian Resistance have been arrested.
