Iran: Khamenei’s aide calls for the trial of Rafsanjani’s children

Mojtaba ZolnourNCRI – An aide to Iranian regime's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and top official with the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Mojtaba Zolnour, on Monday called for the children of Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the regime’s former president, to be put on trial.

He warned Rafsanjani, who chairs both the regime’s Assembly of Experts and Expediency Council, to refrain from “going down the well using the rotten rope of his children.” His remarks were published on the IRGC-affiliated Fars News Agency on Monday.

According to Fars, Zolnour, the deputy representative of the mullahs’ Supreme Leader at the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), said, “Mr. Rafsanjani must not fall into the well using his children’s rotten rope. … If the case of Rafsanjani’s children were to undergo a [court] review, then people will become more optimistic and will feel less pain.

Zolnour added, “Today, the reputation of individuals does not surpass the establishment.”

“Of course, no one would be happy to see a person put on trial, but their status must be made clear,” he said.

“Some think that Rafsanjani’s reputation precedes him, and whatever he does has to be right.”
