Iran: 52,000 people out of work in vast Asalouyeh gas fieldNCRI – A regime official has confessed that more than 50,000 workers have lost their jobs at the vast natural gas field of Asalouyeh in southern Iran, the state-run ILNA reported on Friday.

The executive secretary of the regime’s Home of Worker organ in Bushehr, Kamali, also talked about an increase in the rate of unemployment in the province, adding, “The province of Bushehr does not have big and influential industries. The only region that had the potential to decrease the rate of unemployment in the province was Asalouyeh. But that region is also facing an unemployment crisis and cancellation of its projects.” Kamali added, “Previously, there were 60,000 people working in Asalouyeh, a number which has been reduced to 8,000. During the past four years, 52,000 workers have lost their jobs. This is while the government still continues to claim that it has launched numerous projects in this region.”

Asalouyeh is a region in Bushehr province in southern Iran. It possesses natural gas resources, but is facing economic adversity due to lack of investments. Foreign companies have left the area, a move that has left Asalouyeh’s projects on standstill.
