Jordanian lawmaker says MPs back Iran’s PMOI

NCRI – A majority of Jordanian lawmakers have declared their opposition to the Iranian regime’s meddling in the Middle East and have supported the campaign of the main Iranian opposition group People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) to achieve regime change in Iran, according to a Jordanian Member of Parliament.

Mr. Mohammad al-Haj made the announcement at a major Ramadan conference in Paris on July 3 in which Iranian opposition leader Mrs. Maryam Rajavi was the keynote speaker.

“I am delighted to participate in this Iftar in the holy month of Ramadan following my participation in the annual gathering of the Iranian Resistance in Paris were over 100,000 supporters and friends of this Resistance and the PMOI took part. All the participants condemned the various forms of tyranny and authoritative rule and the Iranian regime’s blatant interference in the affairs of the peoples of this region,” Mr. al-Haj said.

“Our region is in pain and agony. This holy month is upon us while over 75 million people in Syria, Iraq, Libya and elsewhere may find nothing to eat for their Iftar. All these people are suffering from the sectarian flames and bloody feuds and tyranny that the Iranian regime has imposed on the region with its flagrant meddling. Many years ago the Iranian Resistance warned of the catastrophe of the Iranian regime’s meddling in the region.”

“I have with me a document that a majority of members of the Jordanian parliament have signed that supports the activities of the PMOI against the Iranian regime, strongly condemns the interference of this regime in the Arab region, and supports the coalition led by Saudi Arabia in Yemen against the meddling of the Iranian regime. This is our position in Jordan,” he said.
The statement signed by 71 Jordanian MPs called for a lifting of the medical blockade against PMOI members in Camp Liberty, Iraq, and the return of the residents’ personal protection weapons to defend themselves from attacks by the Iranian regime’s terrorist militias in Iraq.

The Jordanian lawmakers said that the Iranian regime must allow ‘intrusive inspections’ of military sites as part of any agreement with the West on ending the regime’s nuclear ambitions.

They said: “According to reports by the United Nations and human rights defending organizations, Iran has the highest rate of execution in the world per capita and the human rights condition has deteriorated during the Presidency of Hassan Rouhani.”

“Reporters Without Borders has described Iran as the biggest prison for reporters and Freedom House has recognized Iran as the number one state in censorship of the internet in 2014.”

“A number of political prisoners, including those from ethnic and religious minorities, have been executed. One of those executed had just given monetary contribution to the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) television station.”

The MPs also condemned the role of the Qods Force and Hezbollah in defending Syrian dictator Bashar Assad.

They added: “Concurrently, Iran has expanded its dominion over Yemen through the Houthi militias. The regime’s officials and Qods Force commanders admit their intervention in the region and brag about four Arab capitals being under their dominion. They say that if they do not fight in Iraq and Syria, their rule will be threatened in Iran.

The MPs issued five key demands aimed at curtailing the Iranian regime’s oppressive role in the region:

1. In all relationships with Iran, the situation of human rights should be considered as a factor. Iran needs to end executions, release the political prisoners, and respect the rights and liberties of the Iranian people.

2. Iran is at the heart of the problem in our region and not part of the solution and it must be forced to leave Iraq and Syria. This is the essential condition for uprooting fundamentalism and extremism from the region.

3. Iran has to implement all UN Security Council resolutions on the nuclear issue, should respond to all IAEA questions, and allow intrusive inspections from all military or non-military site whether declared or not.

4. Camp Liberty residents’ protection should be provided and guaranteed by Iraq, the United States, and the United Nations; part of the personal weapons of the residents should be returned to them for their protection against the militias, and Camp Liberty should be recognized as a refugee camp and the medical blockade on the camp needs to be completely removed.

5. We stand with the Iranian people and the 10-point plan of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), that advocates a democratic non-nuclear Iran based on the separation of mosque and the state, respect for individual rights and freedoms, gender equality, and peaceful coexistence.
