On Wednesday, 1 June 2011, Ms. Haleh Sahabi –daughter of Engineer Sahabi – was beaten by suppressive forces who intended to change the path of her father’s burial ceremony. Ms. Sahabi died as a result of severe blows.
Subsequently, in another antihuman act, the clerical regime forced her family to bury her overnight.
Haleh Sahabi had been sentenced to two years of imprisonment for her pro women and human rights activities.
Ms. Chitsaz called on all relevant international and human rights advocating organizations, along with women’s rights organizations to condemn the murder of Ms. Sahabi, and also to condemn the atrocities of the clerical regime against political prisoners, especially female prisoners. NCRI Women’s Committee chair said silence and inaction vis-à-vis the regime’s brutal violation of human rights in Iran will only encourage the ruling mullahs to continue and intensify these crimes.
