Police in Saudi Arabia have arrested nine Iranian nationals during the last two weeks for their alleged involvement in terror cases in the country, the GULF DAILY NEWS reported.

The Saudi Interior Ministry said that the overall number of Iranians arrested in security cases has risen to 13 thus far.

Earlier this month, Saudi police had arrested four Iranians for their alleged involvement in terror cases, the local Arabic daily Al-Jazirah reported.

In February, 32 people were charged with spying for Iran’s regime.

Among the charges against the 32 defendants are the formation of a spy cell in collaboration with the Iranian regime’s intelligence ministry and passing on sensitive data on militarized zones to the enemies of the state, GDN wrote on Monday.

In January, Saudi Arabia’s Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution referred the case of four Iranian nationals implicated in national security issues to the Special Criminal Court pending their trial.

One of the defendants was a spy working for Iranian intelligence, reported Arab News.
