Iranian regime’s Madrid embassy employee arrested for spying on dissidents

NCRI – The Interior Ministry of  Spain says the country’s  police have arrested three men on charges of spying on Iranian dissidents.

According to a statement by the ministry, the three men had infiltrated a Spanish Non-Governmental Organization that helps asylum seekers.

The three men reported back to Iranian regime the identities of Iranians who fled the country, the statement said.
One of those arrested worked at the Iranian Embassy in Madrid.

The statement Friday did not say when the arrest took place. The arrests have been made in  northern city of Torrelavega and in the Spanish capital.

The Spanish police believes the three are members of a spy network that is controlled by the Iranian intelligence from Iranian regime’s  embassy in Madrid.

The aim of the network was to monitor, pursue and even threaten countrymen living in Spain, considered to be dissidents of the Iranian regime.

Spanish newspaper El Mundo reported that a Spanish citizen working for the NGO in Torrelavega said that a specific interpreter who supposed to aid the asylum seekers was in fact a spy who passed along personal information of all those that he helped.
