NCRI – Members of a religious minority in the city of Esfahan have succeeded in releasing one of their leaders from prison after waging a protest in front of the detention center, according to the BBC and other websites.
Sheikh Morteza Mahjoubi of the Nematollahi order was arrested along with 4 followers Sunday night during a violent raid at his residence in the central city of Esfahan.
According to reports, subsequent to the arrest, followers in Esfahan and other cities marched towards the Esfahan central prison, where they began protesting against the detention. The clerical regime was forced to release Mr. Mahjoubi several hours after the protest.
During the raid by the Iranian regime’s agents, several Dervishes of the order were violently beaten.
In recent years, on the orders of the mullahs’ Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, the clerical regime has repeatedly harassed and arrested Nematollahi Dervishes while routinely demolishing their places of worship.
