According to the state-run Fars news agency on Tuesday, the regime’s Majlis (Parliament) Speaker, Ali Larijani, was quoted as saying, “The goal [of protests] was to insinuate the claim that crises in US-backed regional dictatorships have spread and Iran is now also facing a domestic challenge.”
Larijani called for the creation of a special commission in the regime’s Majlis made up of the security, domestic policy and judiciary committee members to assess the popular uprisings. He said the commission must present a report about the magnitude of the uprising in the next few days.
