Protests in Syria are a “deviation”: mullahs’ Supreme Leader

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has said that the protests in Syria represent a “deviation,” adding that the nature of the uprisings differ from those gripping the rest of the region.

According to the state-run news agency Fars, Khamenei said, “The Americans are trying to portray the incidents in Syria as similar to those in Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen, and Libya, in order to create problems for this country, which is on the frontlines of the resistance. But the nature of the incidents in Syria is different from the incidents in other countries of the region.”

Khamenei was reacting to mounting international criticism of the Iranian regime’s role in helping the Syrian regime suppress dissent and popular protests.
