NCRI – An Iranian regime official has said that the newly revealed US embassy cables by Wikileaks “show a worrying trend which our country will have to face in the near future.”
Isa Golverdi, whose article was published by the state-run Tabnak website, said, “If these documents are credible, Iran is in effect facing an undeclared war by its neighbours; neighbours who seek a US-Iran confrontation and see their interests preserved in such a confrontation.”
“The leaked documents by Wikileaks paint Iran for readers unaware of Middle Eastern realities as the root of all regional problems, which all countries in the region seek to eliminate as the source of instabilities.”
“The disconcerting dimensions of this issue are evident … This can lead to dangerous consequences in the future and threaten national security if officials do not pay close attention to it.”
He advised regime officials to “form a special working group comprised of elites at the apex of the country’s security levels to … adopt appropriate strategic measures with respect to this situation.”
