In an exclusive interview with Al-Sharghiya TV, Mr Zebari, while acknowledging some existing issues between Iraq and the Iranian regime, said: “Any interference from abroad and outside diplomatic channels is unacceptable.”
The Iraqi Foreign Minister said: “In my opinion the only way to confront this meddling [by the Iranian regime] in Iraq is to have the same political positions taken by all the Iraqi leaders and politicians in the government and not having different or contradictory positions about this issue… Iraq’s national interest must come first.”
He added: “We have a series of problems with Iran and these include border problems, water, cutting off water supplies, and drawing the border lines.”
