Hossein Amir-Abdullahian said: “The situation in Syria has entered a new phase and this period will be very decisive. For our axis, Syria is an important and active member in the resistance front, the state-run Fars news agency reported.
“That is why the Islamic Republic has seriously supported the Syrian government, and this support will continue and there has not been and will not be any changes in the position of Tehran in supporting Syria, and Hezbollah is also following this strategy and guideline.”
Amir-Abdullahian denied the mullahs’ obvious military support for Assad, adding: “Claims made by various media outlets regarding the presence of Iranian and Hezbollah forces in Syria is a complete lie, because they claim the Syrian army is weak and it has lost the power to resist.
“However, Syria has neither placed a request with us for military support and nor have we provided military support to Syria. Such assistance has been in political, economic and advertising support.”
Meanwhile the regime’s media outlets have reported Basij paramilitary members registering for deployment to Syria on the evening of Sunday, May 26, in a repressive center in Tehran’s ’17th Shahrivar’ Street near Khorasan Square.
The men were registering for the ‘International Shiite Corps’ named ‘Abolfazl al-Abbas’. The main core of this force consists of agents organized by two armed Iraqi groups by the names of ‘Asaeb Ahl al-Haq’ and ‘Iraqi Hezbollah’, the Mehr news agency reported.
The mullahs’ campaign to provide all-out support for Syria, which is the epicenter and ‘connecting ring of the export of terrorism and fundamentalism in the Middle East, comes as amid increasing signs of the fall of the Syrian dictatorship and the crumbling velayat-e faqih regime in its wake.
