The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has been recruiting thousands of Afghan refugees to fight against the Syrian people, Wall Street Journal reported.
The Afghan refugees are also granted residency in Iran, $500 a month, school registration for their children and charity card to fight for Bashar Assad, according to Afghan and Western officials.
An Afghan religious leader Mohaghegh Kabul has confirmed that the IRGC convince the Afghan youth to fight in Syria.
“They give them everything from salary to residency,” Mohaghegh Kabul quoted in the report by Wall Street Journal.
Two Afghans killed fighting the Syrian people on behalf of Bashar al-Assad were buried in the Iranian city of Qum last week.
A official funeral service presided over by high ranking cleric Mohammad Sadegh Haeri-Shirazi was held.
The two dead belonged to the Fatemioun Brigade, a para-military group composed of Afghan refugees sent by the clerical regime, the state-run Abna.ir news agency reported.
Dozens of members of the Fatemioun Brigade sent to fight in Syria have been buried in Iranian cities of Qum, Mashahd, Isfahan and Tehran, Abna.ir said.
