NCRI – The Iranian regime is providing the regime of Bashar al-Assad of Syria with to $3.6 billion in oil the Syrian state news agency SANA said on Tuesday.

“An agreement was signed (on Monday) in Tehran… by the Iranian and Syrian central banks, granting Syria a credit line worth $3.6 billion,” it reported.

The deal stipulates that Syria will pay back the cost of the oil loan “through Iranian investments of various kinds in Syria”, said SANA.

It did not elaborate on what kind of investments Tehran would make.

The Iranian regime is the main regional backer of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad who has killed tens of thousands of people to crush opposition.

Two weeks ago, Hassan Rouhani, the Iranian regime’s new president, sent a messages to Syria’s Bashar Assad and Lebanon’s militant Hezbollah group, reaffirming support for the regime’s two allies.

On July 16, the state-run IRNA news agency cited Hasan Rouhani as saying close Iranian-Syrian ties will be able to confront “enemies in the region, especially the Zionist regime”.
