“The Iranian regime’s policy of playing with cards of religion has been exposed in Iraq and has not been accepted by many Iraqi leaders and Shiites in that country who are standing against the regime’s meddling in that country,” Al-Balad added.
The Saudi daily wrote: “Mr. Iyad al-Jamal al-Din, a distinguished Iraqi politician said that we cannot breathe the air the way that Iranian regime wants it for our country. We are Shiites. But before being a Shiite we are Iraqi. The Iranian regime by supporting groups in Yemen wants to expand its plans for religious war.”
The article described the recent remarks by Iranian regime’s foreign minister warning about other countries meddling in the region as ridiculous. The Saudi daily asked: “Isn’t the Iranian regime the one that suppresses its own people more than any other country to impose itself inside and outside of the country? If Mottaki [the mullahs’ foreign minister] is rejecting the meddling, why is it interfering in the internal affairs of Iraq, Yemen and Pakistan to the worst level? Furthermore, if he considers the meddling unjustified then why is it trying to destroy the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Iraq?”
