BOI, Dec. 2 – In an open letter, former Iranian national soccer team player and Argentina World Cup participant, Hassan Naeb-Agha, denounced plots by the Iranian regime’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) to use his name and popularity in a campaign to demonize the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), the clerical regime’s main opposition.
Naeb-Agha, a popular football star in Iran in the late 70s, accused the MOIS of interfering in his private life and bringing emotional harm to his children, in an attempt to accuse the PMOI of rights abuses. Naeb-Agha warned that the MOIS was planning a renewed campaign of assassinations against renowned dissidents throughout Europe and the US. The current disinformation campaign was a bid to set the stage for possible terrorist attacks by Tehran’s agents, similar to the 1990s, he said.
