Iran: IRGC member killed in Syria

NCRI – A member of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) buried on Tuesday (September 16, 2014) in city of Shahrud in Iran, state-run news outlets reported.

The burial service for Hossein Vabasteh was attended by the city’s governor, the provisional commanders of armed forces and officials in northern Semnan province.

The burial took place on the same that the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) reaffirmed support for the Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

IRGC Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari said on Tuesday that “support of the Syrian regime will continue” and “we strongly condemn this move by the U.S. which we see as an aggressive and bullying posture.”

The Iranian regime has been Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad’s main regional ally since the revolt against his rule erupted in March 2011.

Jafari made the remarks as the U.S. House of Representatives began debating legislation on Tuesday to authorize President Barack Obama’s plan to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels to fight Islamic State militants, and lawmakers said the measure would likely pass the full Congress by the end of this week.
