Iran: Exclude mullahs’ soccer team from World Cup – German MEP

ImageNCRI – Following Ahamadinejad’s revolting remarks yesterday, EU leaders and foreign ministers were expected to formally denounce the statements at a two-day EU summit that begins today. Jonathan Allen, a spokesman for Britain, which holds the current EU presidency, said EU foreign ministers may discuss Ahmadinejad’s comments over dinner Thursday.

"We are outraged. We condemn it, we think its absolutely unacceptable," EU spokeswoman Cristina Gallach said.

Daniel Cohn-Bendit, the German who leads the Green faction in the European Parliament, raised the possibility of excluding the Iranian national soccer team from next year’s World Cup finals because of Ahmadinejad’s statement.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, strongly condemned the latest developments and Ahmadinejad’s remarks yesterday, which have been endorsed by mullahs’ Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and former President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani in the past few days. Mrs. Rajavi said that as the Iranian Resistance emphasized after Ahmadinejad took office, the fragile and moribund theocracy ruling Iran had declared war on the international community as a solution to its irremediable domestic crises and growing international isolation. This policy is underpinned by the regime’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, domination of Iraq, and export of terrorism and fundamentalism to the whole region.

Mrs. Rajavi said that the only correct policy vis-à-vis the regime was a policy of firmness. A necessary element of such a policy, she said, was the referral of the regime’s sponsorship of terrorism, spread of fundamentalism, nuclear file, and human rights violations to the United Nations Security Council. She also called for removal of the People’s Mojahedin, the main Iranian opposition, from EU’s terror list.
