In New York, Iranian regime “proud” of stoning sentences

M.LarejaniNCRI – During a trip to New York, the deputy judiciary chief of the Iranian regime lent strong public support to the regime’s inhumane stoning sentences, exclaiming “we are proud of it.”

Javad Larijani, who is visiting New York City in effect to defend torture, hanging, and stoning in the face of a United Nations resolution condemning the theocracy, was quoted by the state-run Raja News on Wednesday as saying, “Not only are we opposed to this resolution, but we also oppose the entire process, which we consider to be detrimental to human rights.”

Supporting the gross human rights violations committed in Iran by the clerical regime, Larijani added that the punishment by stoning “is only a small part of our extensive punishment laws. … We are proud of having such a system.”

With regards to the recent arrest of a number of lawyers, Larijani said, “Just as we refuse to accept foreigners exploiting the concept of human rights, in our own country, too, we do not allow anyone to commit offenses in the name of supporting human rights, whether as a so-called lawyer or a human rights defender.”

“Instead of defending their clients, some lawyers make allegations against the judicial and political system of the country, questioning the establishment … and so they must take responsibility for their comments,” he said.
