NCRI- In an interview with al-Arabiya TV, Mr. Salleh Al-Qallab, former Jordanian Minister of Information said on October 28 the Iranian regime is setting the stage for a conflict between Shiites and Sunnis.
He said that the Iranian regime is planning to send groups of members of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and its Bassij paramilitary arm to Mecca for the Hajj pilgrimage, something it has done previously as well.
Al-Arabiya reminded that Favad al-Farsi, the Hajj Minister in Saudi Arabia has called on the Iranian regime not to politicize the pilgrimage. It then asked the former Jordanian minister about the scope and severity of the dangers posed by the clerical regime in Iran.
Salleh Al-Qallab said: We know that Ahmadinejad claims to predict the future and to be in contact with God. How did Khamenei know that there will be problems during Hajj. The pilgrimage has not even started yet. The pilgrims have not reached their destination yet. Khamenei’s remarks show that there is an agenda and a plot in the works.
The former minister also pointed to the rifts within the clerical regime’s leadership and said most of “the men of Khomeini’s revolution have now risen up against the system. Now, some want to repair the system by organizing it around Ahmadinejad and the IRGC. They want to export the crisis abroad in order to be able to deal with the domestic situation.”
He added: This is evident and Khamenei is currently trying to fan the flames of the crisis. They will send agents of IRGC and Bassij to Hajj, and accompany them with elderly men and women. Their goal is to cause problems just as they are carrying out bombings in iraq.
Salleh Al-Qallab also said: The Iranian regime is setting the stage to cause a conflict between Shiites and Sunnis. That is enough. They even exploit the Hajj ceremony and the pure religion of Islam. I want to stress that this year they will send IRGC and Bassij personnel as pilgrims and they have decided to cause crises. This has to be made clear. They have also done such things in the past.
