In a significant move, the Parliament of Canada has overwhelmingly voted in favor of designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization. With a resounding 327 votes in favor, the decision underscores the will of the Canadian representatives against the clerical regime and its terrorist activities inside Iran and around the world.

The approval of this measure marks a renewed effort by Canadian MPs to officially recognize the IRGC as a terrorist entity, following previous unsuccessful attempts. Notably, every member of the Canadian House of Commons supported the motion, highlighting the bipartisan consensus on the issue.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), commended the Canadian Parliament for its decision. She urged the Canadian government to swiftly implement the resolution, emphasizing the need to confront the oppressive actions of the IRGC, which she referred to as “the darkness of tyranny and crime.”

Mrs. Rajavi also called on the European Union and its member states not to further delay and to implement the European Parliament’s decision regarding the terrorist designation of the IRGC.

Furthermore, the NCRI President-elect urged countries such as the United Kingdom, Australia, and other Commonwealth nations to refrain from procrastination in taking decisive action against the IRGC and the regime’s Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS). She emphasized the necessity of expelling agents and mercenaries associated with the IRGC from European and North American countries, asserting that such measures are essential to safeguard the rights of the Iranian people and all advocates of freedom.

This development comes in the wake of escalating tensions, including recent conflicts throughout the Middle East.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has faced mounting pressure to address the threat posed by the IRGC. However, despite previous commitments to take action, concrete steps from the Canadian government have yet to materialize.

In a statement issued following the parliamentary vote, the Canadian Conservative Party underscored the significance of the decision, urging Prime Minister Trudeau to fulfill his promises and stand alongside Iranians in Canada and worldwide.
