Bolton: US should have a broader Mid East strategy

NCRI – The United States must think about a broader strategy in the Middle East and back the opposition in Syria, John Bolton said.

In an interview with Fox News channel, the former US Ambassador to the United Nations, added that the US should no longer recognize the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Mr. Bolton said a change of regime in Syria will spell a big defeat for the Iranian regime, because Tehran will no longer be able to help Hamas and Hezbollah. He added that the Iranian regime will still try to exploit the situation to ensure that it will not be overthrown.

Separately, an alternative to the Assad regime has become an important issue for neighboring country Turkey. A Turkish paper wrote that the country’s National Security Council discussed the issue for seven hours recently.
