Ahmadinejad visits Iraq to secure flow of weapons to Syria from Iran

NCRI – Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian regime’s outgoing president, is visiting Baghdad to secure the transfer of weapons to Syria through Iraq, according to reports from inside the regime.

The outgoing president has also threatened to increase terrorist attacks on Iraq by Quds force militants if it buckles to international pressure to halt the flow of arms to Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Ahmadinejad told Iraq on July 14 that he would be making a four-day visit, and the Iraqi government is said to have immediately welcomed the trip, which has been condemned by anti-government protesters across the country.

He is also travelling with a delegation of 200 officials and staff in a bid to exploit Iraq to bypass international sanctions on the regime. The visit also comes as The World Bank recently described Iran as one of the two ‘non-accrual statue’ countries that hasn’t paid its debts to the bank for the past six months.

Sheikh Mohammad Taha Hamdoon, spokesman of the protesters in six Iraqi provinces, told Baghdad TV on July 19: “Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iraq is not welcome. Iran is the main element behind all crimes taking place in Iraq. They provide financial support and are the supporters of insurgents that are currently murdering, forcing people out of their homes and creating a climate of fear amongst the Iraqi people.

“Iran increases its power and influence in Iraq through this bloodshed. Iran is the element behind religious crackdown in Iraq and the bombing of Samarra holy shrines, and therefore his visit is not welcome.”

A speaker at a rally in Fallujah on Friday also told al-Tagheer TV: “Ahmadinejad is the murderer and criminal that his spilled the blood of Iraqis. We the Iraqi people say we don’t welcome his visit because he has sent insurgents to Iraq to carry out killings, force people out of their homes and murder them, not just against Sunnis, but all Iraqis. It is Iran that is behind the bombings taking place in Iraq.”
