NCRI – A state-run medium expressed concerns over the consequences of suppressing plans of dish collecting implemented by commando forces. It warned that if wiser and more calculative measures are not taken today, tomorrow will be too late.
Admitting to the failure of the suppressing project, Ministry of Intelligence-affiliated web site, Aser-Iran, wrote, police forces have in several attempts tried to stop people from using satellite dishes since 2001 when the law against the use of satellite dishes passed.
They have tried to implement this law by pulling all their forces together and expending humongous amounts of money. However, the question is how successful this project has been. Hasn’t the number of dishes increased over the roofs of houses? Or haven’t the collected dishes been replaces by more modern dishes and more advanced and updated receivers?
In another section of the article, this website concludes that one of the reasons people embrace satellite programs is that they hate the programs produced by regime’s much disliked TV networks. According to official polls results published these days in media, 60% of Tehran’s population say they seldom or never watch the programs broadcast by Iranian radio and television. According to another poll run by regime’s Radio and Television Poll Center, 60 to 65% of Iran’s population and 65%of Tehran’s inhabitants watch satellite programs.
What should be added to these statistics is that some people fear their safety and do not tell the truth. In reality, should we not find the real cause of people’s attraction to satellite networks and the lack thereof to Iranian radio and television in the weakness of our national media programs? It added.
In the final part of its article, warning against the reaction of people, this Ministry of Intelligence-affiliated medium wrote, it is obvious that measures of this sort are at best only a temporary sedative. For some, it is as though they must retry things that have been tried even several times. The consequences of our unwise policies will be attributed to the regime. If we do not choose wiser and more calculative measures today, tomorrow will be too late.
