Regime forces prepare for suppression of protests after subsidies lift: IRGC

NCRI – A senior commander of the Iranian regime’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned on Thursday that the paramilitary Bassij Force is prepared to counteract popular protests after the implementation of a regime plan to lift subsidies, according to the state-run Fars News agency.

Morad Kazemi, the deputy commander of the IRGC in the southern city of Dashti, said the paramilitary suppressive force Bassij can “play a role in this regard and create stability and security.”

“One of the tasks of the Bassij is to prepare itself to bring order and security in society when the plan for targeted subsidies is implemented,” he said.

Kazemi also conceded that the 2009 post-June uprisings against the regime were “at an extremely more destructive” force compared to the threats of the past 32 years and even the Iran-Iraq war.
