Larijani brothers’ farms deprive local farmers of water

NCRI – Iran’s notorious ruling Larijani brothers have been accused of destroying farmers’ livelihoods by digging scores of wells for their own farms.

The powerful pair – Sadeq Larijani, head of the judiciary and Mohammad Javad Larijani, president of the human rights HQ of the judiciary – dug 72 wells in Varamin, in Tehran Province, to water their own pistachio plantations.

Neighbouring farmers said their own properties had now dried out, according to reports from Iran.

One struggling Varamin farmer said: “They have dug 72 wells to water more than 5,000 hectares of pistachio farms.”

Another added: “No ordinary person can achieve permission to dig a well in this district that is low in water. However, the owners of these big farms have dug many.”
