Iranian regime announces new ‘soft war’ headquarters to control net users

NCRI- The Iranian regime is setting up new ‘soft war’ headquarters to counter ‘cultural attacks’, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces has announced

Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri described the virtual world as ‘the most important, complex and convenient weapon for the enemy to use’.

He told the state-run Fars news agency: “Soft war headquarters will be established throughout the country. It is a new large-scale establishment that will lead to a new structure in the General Staff of the armed forces.

“Various dimensions of the soft war should be identified by the media and should be followed by tough action to repel the enemy invasion.”

Also the Cyber Police in the northern province of Gilan, had warned on October 7 that western enemies used the Internet in their ‘soft war’ against the regime.

He added in the speech at Gilan University: “The virtual world is the most important, the most complex and the most convenient weapon for the enemy to use it in its soft war.

“Those who waste their life by membership of these social websites should know that they are creating a sad and miserable future for themselves.

The new soft war centres are the latest move by the regime to control the internet.

Mullahs use emails controls to identify and arrest the young protesters . In 2012, blogger Sattar Beheshti was arrested because of the content of his blog and later died under torture.
