Iran: Six People Arrested in Connection With Modeling

NCRI – A Judiciary official of Iranian regime announced that six people were arrested in Tabriz in connection with modeling and cyberspace crimes.
According to state-run IRNA news agency, Ahmad Movagheri, Iranian regime’s deputy prosecutor in Tabriz (northwest Iran), said four men and two women including two photographers were arrested in connection with the modeling case in the city.

“In the case of modeling, the accused were trying to introduce cosmetics and immodest clothing through Telegram channel,” he said.

In recent months, several news have been reported regarding the arrest of people, who were active in cyberspace advertising clothes and cosmetics, under the pretext of dealing with “unauthorized modeling.”

Iranian regime Fata police (Cyber-Police) and judiciary authorities introduced mainly the wedding service centers, beauty salons and photography and camerawork service centers for modeling activities. However, no criterion for identifying illegal modeling activities is provided.

In the wake of numerous news released regarding dealing with the so-called illegal cyberspace activities, the Iranian regime’ Cyber Police and Minister of Communications announced that news and information channels with more than 5 thousand users are obliged to introduce channel manager and receive license.

According to state-run Tabnak news agency quoting cyberspace research center, “Social networks have created many fans by influencing among the people of Iran.”

Telegram social network with 15 billion messages exchanged daily is the most popular social network in Iran. Iran’s people have launched over 170 thousand Telegram network channels of which 11 thousand channels have more than 5,000 members. On average, each Iranian user is a member of 10 Telegram channels and reads more than 100 articles or contents daily.
