NCRI – In his remarks reflected in the state media on Monday November 7, the head of Iranian regime’s judiciary Mullah Sadegh Larijani has in an apparent lie claimed that “the freedom of expression in the Islamic Republic is a reasonable and real freedom.”
In a meeting with higher authorities of the regime’s judiciary, Larijanin attempted to implicitly attack Hassan Rouhani by saying “some say it would be much better not to break pens or shut mouths on unrealistic or unsubstantial excuses. It’s obvious that they’re addressing the judiciary. This is a defamation of the judiciary. Ironically, those who target the judiciary with such defamations and insults, keep talking about morality and Islam as well. Which Islam or morality are such defamations and insults compatible with?! Who’s going to benefit from such defamations of the judiciary and weakening of the justice department?
Addressing Rouhani, Mullah Larijani said: “Honorable brother, you yourself have repeatedly said, oral or written, directly or indirectly, that why this paper or that website are not dealt with, or go to Khamenei and complain that the judiciary has failed to deal with a paper. But once among the press and media people, you talk about the freedom of press and not breaking pens or shutting mouths! Nevertheless, we don’t care about any of these words and keep going our own legal way.”
It’s worth mentioning that in his speech at Tehran Book Fair on November 5, Rouhani had said that “mouths should not be shut on unsubstantial excuses” or “broken pens and shut mouths are not capable of doing anything” and “gun is not enough for maintaining security.”
The remarks by Mullah Sadegh Larijani removes the mask off Rouhani’s face more than ever, making it quite clear that when it comes to the repression of freedoms in society, both factions of the regime say the same thing.
