Iran: People clash with State Security Forces over deadly car accident

NCRI- The residents of a south western city in Iran, who had blocked a road to protest following in recent deadly car accident, clashed with security forces.

Seven residents of Ben in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province were recently killed in a road accident.

In recent months members of families of those killed in road accidents have been holding protests against the regime.

In January, relatives of the victims of a road accident which killed 9 university students in southern Iran gathered on the scene of accident to protest the fatal road conditions.

The protesters complained that the authorities in the southern province of Khuzistan have made many promises in the past but they have done nothing to make the roads safer.

According to the official figures, road accidents in Iran takes life of one person every 20 minutes. Last year 26,888 Iranians were killed in road accidents while over 12,000 were injured.

Based on these figures the number of victims of road accidents in Iran are 45 times higher than industrial countries.
