Iran: More satellite dishes seized in Shirwan

NCRI – The Iranian regime’s agents have seized 1,000 satellite dishes in the city of Shirwan, the head of the State Security Forces has revealed.

Ali Pakdel told a press conference last week: “Following a directive issued by the city’s judiciary authorities, the SSF forces confiscated 1,000 satellite receivers in the city.”

Another report said the SSF seized more dishes in raids in the Moien neighborhood of the city of Ahvaz on August 17.

Several youths were arrested during the raids and transferred to Kianpars Detention Centre, reports said.

One 15-year-old resident named as Mohammad Amir Vaicy was also severely beaten by security forces, who threatened his father to remain silent or face criminal charges.

The latest raids represent a stepping up of satellite dish seizures since new president Hassan Rouhani came to power last month.

The regime’s Moral Security police arrested 107 people and seized 16,000 satellite dishes in a separate massive crackdown last week.

Brigadier Mohammad-Masoud Zahedian said raids took place in Tehran and 18 other cities and 5400 receivers and 11,000 other items including satellite dishes, motors and LNBs were confiscated.

He told the state-run Mehr news agency on August 14: “The Moral Security Police relied on intelligence and infiltration of the networks of distributors of satellite receivers and other equipment to identify those distributing this equipments across Iran.

“The network was active in Tehran and 18 other cities. Our police operation has lead to the identification and arrest of all the leaders. Those arrested will receive the punishments they deserve.”
