Iran: Former IRGC commander lashed in prison

File photoNCRI – A former commander of the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corp (IRGC) was lashed in a prison in city of Mashhad in north-eastern Iran.

Hossein Farzin received 20 lashes on Thursday March 11 in Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad as a sentence issued by a regime’s court was carried out.

Farzin, a former deputy commander of Khatam al-Anbia Garrison, the IRGC’s major engineering arm and one of Iran’s largest contractors in industrial and development projects was arrested in 2010 but later released on bail.

He was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment and 20 lashes on February 22, 2014 for ‘propaganda against the system’ according to some reports.
