Iran: Floods sweep through Kerman province, leaving 15 dead

NCRI – Four days of heavy rain has flooded up to 40 villages in Kerman Province, south-east Iran, leaving 15 people including a four-year-old child dead.

The deluge – the worst in several years in the region – also destroyed 70 homes as it swept through the villages.

Kerman’s deputy mayor told the state-run ISNA news agency said the floods had also cut off the fresh water supply to 79 houses and put out 16 phone lines.

The head of the province’s incident bureau added: “There has been damage to water, electricity and communication installations in some of these villages. In others, the water supply network has been completely destroyed.

“Thirty TV masts have also been damaged,” he said.
