Iran: Buddha statues removed from shops, books confiscated

NCRI – Iranian regime’s authorities are collecting Buddha statues from shops in Tehran. A regime’s official for “the protection of cultural heritage,” called the Buddha statues as symbols of “cultural invasion.”

State-run news agency Mehr quoted Saeed Jabberi Ansari that authorities will not permit a specific belief to be promoted through such items. He said the “cleansing” has been going on in past five days and it will continue.

He also said during the cultural inspection of shops in Tehran 1,000 books were confiscated in Revolution Street alone.

As the Iranian regime’s presidential election is approaching, Iranian regime has escalated suppressive measures.  Many prisoners have been hanged publicly and hands of some prisoners chopped off in public.

The suppressive measures are aimed at preventing public protest much stronger than 2009 protests than many officials have warned.
