Iran: Basij force’s new tactics to impose strict control at universities as academic year begins

NCRI – Members of the Iranian regime’s repressive paramilitary Basij forces at universities are having a heavy presence at universities campuses across Iran to intimidate students and prevent any act of protest.

The members of Basij have resorted to new tactic to impose their presence at universities. They welcome new students with fruit juice and chocolate or sweets and follow them from the entrance to the registration hall to have them under control. There are several Basij members working behind every table in the registration hall.

At the Medical Science University in Kerman, the Basijis were positioned near the registration desks passing out posters of those killed in the war. They take the students to the burial of those killed in Iran-Iraq war.

The Iranian regime has buried Iran-Iraq war dead in grave yards in university campuses across Iran to gain greater control over universities. On some occasions the burial prompted clashes between opposing students and members of Basij.

One students told Daneshjoo news “these are members of the same Basij forces who spy on the students. The students are under great pressure from their behavior.”

The members of Basij are present everywhere across the campus including the entrance gates, education department, offices, representative office and etc.

At Gorgan University, the registration forms consist of an extra option that says “there is a 10 per cent discount in the tuition fee for whom ever chooses the gender segregation option.”
