Gas pipeline explosion rocks Iranian city

NCRI – A huge gas pipeline explosion rocked the Iranian city of Ramshir in southern province of Khuzestan early Tuesday morning. The explosion took place near a village 20 kilometers from the city.A thick smoke due to explosion of the 42 year-old pipeline covered the sky over the villages in the area. The explosion occurred underground in depth of 1.3 meters.

The fire caused by the explosion extinguished after 2 hours but there was no casualties.

Residents of the southern province of Khuzestan are regularly witnessing explosions of gas and oil pipeline in the area causing economic damages and lives are lost.

The gas and oil pipelines in the area very old and rusty.
