NCRI – Deputy commander of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Tharallah Garrison said flying personal and private drones is banned in Tehran.

“The IRGC Tharallah Garrison is responsible to maintain the security of Tehran, and this entity must issue the authority to fly drones,” said Alireza Rabi’i on Monday, February 20th in an interview with the IRGC Quds Force-affiliated Tasnim news agency.

Tehran’s Tharallah Garrison is one of the IRGC security bases in Tehran playing a key role in oppressing any anti-government protest in the Iranian capital.

Banning drones in Tehran reveals the IRGC’s concerns about protecting the residence of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

On Monday evening various military and regime officials said a camera-equipped drone entered the banned “no-fly” zone, prompting anti-air artillery units to open fire.

On the morning of December 23rd, 2016 the sounds of anti-air artillery fire was heard in Tehran’s Enghelab Square, and afterwards state-run media said a drone was downed near Khamenei’s residence.
