World’s largest uranium mine contemplates freezing Iranian regime stake

Rossing UraniumNCRI – A Namibian uranium mine said it is mulling what to do with a stake held by the ‎Iranian regime in light of the latest U.N. sanctions, according to Reuters.‎

The Iranian regime holds a 15 percent stake in the Rossing Uranium Mine in Namibia in ‎southern Africa, one of the world’s biggest open-pit uranium mines, Reuters said.‎

The mine is majority-owned by Anglo-Australian mining giant Rio Tinto.‎

Namibia is the fourth largest producer of uranium in the world after Kazakhstan, Canada ‎and Australia.‎

State-run media in Iran have voice worries about the possibility of the regime losing the ‎assets. Khabar Online said that Namibia is considering “pocketing” Iran’s 15 percent ‎share in the world’s largest uranium mine.‎
