India bans nuclear technology exports to Iran

Agence France Presse- India has banned all exports and imports to and from Iran that could contribute to Tehran’s nuclear programme, the commerce ministry said Wednesday.

"Direct or indirect export and import of all items, materials, equipment, goods and technology which could contribute to Iran’s enrichment-related … activities to/from Iran is prohibited," a government statement said.

The move is a result of sanctions against Iran imposed by the UN Security Council in December for its refusal to suspend all uranium enrichment activity.

Nuclear-armed and energy-hungry India has repeatedly called for dialogue to resolve the row over Tehran’s suspect nuclear ambitions.
