French PM urges tougher sanctions on Iranian regime

NCRI – France’s Prime Minister has called for stronger sanctions against the Iranian regime over its nuclear program, AFP reported on Saturday.

Speaking aboard the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle off the Red Sea city of Jeddah, Francois Fillon said, “Iran’s possession of a bomb would destabilize the region where tensions are already extremely high. It is an unacceptable prospect for us and for the countries in the region.”

According to AFP, Western diplomat said in Washington that the world’s major powers would consider tougher, non-UN measures against the Iranian regime to include financial as well as oil and gas sanctions.

Mr. Fillon was addressing military personnel on the French navy’s flagship which is holding joint exercises with the Saudi military.
