An Iranian state-run news agency, Khabar Online, noted Catherine Ashton’s decision and said, “Despite the fact that both sides had decided that upon an agreement among P+1 countries, Ashton would attend a joint press conference with Saeed Jalili, the Iranian representative in the negotiations, the western side backed out of the decision.”
Afterwards, the clerical regime’s envoy, Saeed Jalili, criticized the EU foreign policy chief’s statement and said it ran counter to the substance of the negotiations.
