Over 60,700 dead of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran-Iran Coronavirus Death Toll per PMOI MEK sources

NUMBER OF VICTIMS (AS OF June 24, 2020, 6:00 PM CEST):

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon, June 24, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 60,700 in 339 cities across Iran.

4590 in Khuzestan, 3070 in Gilan, 2150 in Lorestan, 1860 in East Azerbaijan, 1490 in Golestan, 1350 in Hamedan, 1210 in Kurdestan, 780 in Yazd. This is in addition to reports obtained from other provinces.

UN Human Rights Council Extends Mandate of Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran

UN Human Rights Council – Geneva

The United Nations Human Rights Council, during its session on June 22, extended the mandate of Javaid Rehman, the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran.  

While referring to the OHCHR resolution from 2011 until now, and the regime’s lack of cooperation and increase of human rights violations, the Council decided to extend Mr. Rehman’s mandate for another year.

 The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) announced on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll in 339 cities across Iran is more than 60,400. The number of victims in Khuzestan is 4,555, Khorasan Razavi 3,435, Isfahan 3,125, Gilan 3,045, Alborz 1,930, West Azerbaijan 1,595, Kermanshah 1,480, Golestan 1,465, Fars 1,165, Zanjan 545, Bushehr 545, Hormozgan 480, and Ilam 395.

More protests reported from various parts of Iran

Employees of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company holding a protest rally

People from all walks of life are holding more gatherings and rallies protesting their poor living conditions. Workers of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company in Shush, southwest Iran, held a rally for the eighth consecutive day on Monday, June 22, protesting company officials’ refusal to respond to their demands. These workers have officially launched a strike and are rallying outside the company site.

The protesting Haft Tappeh workers are demanding their delayed paychecks, improvements in working conditions, the company’s status being finalized, a return to work for all company employees, canceling all plans to privatize the company and extending the expiration date for employees’ medical plans.

Hundreds of Tehran Prisoners Face Severe Water Shortages Amid the Pandemic

Hundreds of prisoners at the Greater Tehran Penitentiary face severe water shortages despite the outbreak of the coronavirus in the prison.
As of Friday, June 19, the water of the ward 5 of this prison has been cut off, and the prisoners in this part of the prison are also deprived of drinking water.
Emergency water was also cut off on Friday, and prison officials locked the doors of the ward’s halls to prevent the prisoners from protesting.
Hot water has been cut off in some prison wards for more than two weeks.

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Wednesday, June 24, 2020, marks the 222nd day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE UPRISING:

Number of uprising cities: 191

Number of martyrs: At least 1500

Number of injured: More than 4,000

Number of detainees: More than 12,000
