Iran’s Regime Massacres Opponents and Spreads Disinformation Online to Justify It – Theresa Payton’s Speech at the Free Iran Global Summit

Free Iran Global Summit – July 17, 2020

July 19th marked the 32nd anniversary of Iran’s 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners. Most of these prisoners were members and supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). Following its forced acceptance of ceasefire with Iraq, and fearing eruption of war-torn society, the Iranian regime committed this crime against humanity to paralyze the democratic force of change. In fact, the regime has been ruthlessly persecuting, imprisoning and killing members and supporters of the MEK

Simultaneous with killing dissidents, the Iranian regime has been pursuing a demonizing and disinformation campaign against its political opponents, mainly the MEK and the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).

Hundreds of politicians and renowned experts attended the NCRI’s “Free Iran Global Summit,” which lasted for three days. Among these distinguished guests was Ms. Theresa Payton, a well-known and highly respected U.S. authority on cybersecurity.

Iran: Regime raises new bogus charges against political prisoner Majid Assadi

Political prisoner Majid Assadi

Reports indicate political prisoner Majid Assadi, previously held in Gohardasht Prison of Karaj, west of the Iranian capital of Tehran, has been transferred on July 22 to ward 209 of notorious Evin Prison where he is under interrogation and extreme pressure. These latest measures by the regime’s authorities are in response for Assadi’s signature of a statement by a group of political prisoners exposing a regime operative by the name of Iraj Mesdaghi, who previously sought to gather information and carry out the mullahs’ plots inside the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).

The MEK’s growing influence in Iran and across the globe is terrifying Tehran

Activities of the Iranian Resistance Units, an internal network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) – July 2020.

During the Friday prayers of July 24, the most important political stage of the mullahs’ regime in Iran, many mullahs expressed their fear for the growing support of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). These remarks come after the annual meeting of the Iranian Resistance the “Free Iran Global Summit 2020,” which connected 30,000 places in 102 countries including Iran and Ashraf 3, the headquarters of MEK members in Albania.

The online Iranian opposition summit was widely viewed and welcomed inside Iran, where internet access is very limited.

The Friday prayer leader of Yazd expressed fear of activities by MEK supporters on social media, exposing the regime’s crimes.

The Friday prayer leader of Astan-e Ashrafiyeh, Gilan province, said: “The MEK is seeking riots in the country through a cyber war.” And the Friday prayer imam of Razavi Khorasan said: “The MEK is seeking internet riots and media terror.”

This expression of fear is due to daily and constant activities of the Iranian Resistance Units, an internal network of the MEK, in support of the “Free Iran Global Summit” and to overthrow the Iranian regime.

The Iranian regime’s effort to censor MEK rally failed

NCRI president Maryam Rajavi attends Free Iran 2020 rally in Ashraf 3, Albania, headquarters of the MEK

As the Iranian Resistance prepared to hold its biggest online rally on Friday, July 17, the Iranian regime engaged in a widespread and preplanned cyberattack to prevent the event from getting wide coverage. The event, “Free Iran Global Summit 2020,” which was held through a video conferencing platform, included participants from 30,000 locations and 102 countries, featured speeches by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, president-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), and dozens of dignitaries from across the globe.

The regime’s coordinated attack targeted several websites, including Mojahedin.org and iranntv.com, the website of the Iranian Resistance’s national television, both of which were livestreaming the event. In addition to direct attacks to the websites of the Iranian Resistance, the Iranian regime tried to hack a web service provider to redirect queries to MEK’s websites to other locations.
