“Nitrate of dissent” may explode at any moment in Iran, state media warn
The state-run Asre Iran daily published a piece on Tuesday titled “Nitrate of Dissent—We should be careful of Iran becoming the next Beirut,” warning about the country’s powder keg society and comparing the status quo in Iran to that of Beirut and all of Lebanon. Dissent among the Iranian people is becoming very similar to the ammonium nitrate stockpiled in Beirut’s port and may explode at any moment, the piece explains.

After Mass Uprisings and Defiance, Tehran’s Fear of the MEK Grows
Recent public statements from Iranian regime’s officials have been unusually forthright about threats to their hold on power. At Friday prayer gatherings in major cities at the end of July, local representatives of regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei took special aim at the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK), warning the regime’s elements to be on guard against the further actions of the MEK “Resistance Units”. But in so doing, they also showed their fear of the regime’s viable alternative.

NCRI President-elect Mrs. Maryam Rajavi:
Many prisoners including political prisoners of Evin Prison, Great Tehran Penitentiary, the Central Prison of Urmia, among others, have contracted the coronavirus and so, thousands of prisoners in Iran are vulnerable to the disease.
The clerical regime is unable to provide and guarantee the necessary hygienic restrictions inside its prisons. The UN needs to take urgent action to compel the Iranian regime to stop this catastrophe by temporarily releasing all prisoners, including the political prisoners.
