Iran: Coronavirus Update, Over 23,100 Deaths, April 9, 2020, 6:00 PM

NUMBER OF VICTIMS (AS OF APRIL 9, 2020, 6:00 PM CET):

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon, April 9, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 23,100 in 251 cities across Iran.

The death count in different provinces includes:650 in West Azerbaijan, 355 in East Azerbaijan, 910 in Alborz, 1810 in Isfahan, 80 in Bushehr, 3050 in Tehran, 100 in Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, 1900 in Khorasan Razavi, 1000 in Khuzestan, 370 in Semnan, 390 in Kurdistan, 365 in Kerman, 670 in Kermanshah, 135 in Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad,  2100 in Gilan, 540 in Lorestan, and at least 590 in Hamadan. This is in addition to the death toll in other provinces.

Iran: more than 30 inmates killed by security forces during COVID-19 jail protests

Reports that security forces used live ammunition and tear gas in jails, with prisoners stripped and beaten after protests crushed. Teenager on death row apparently beaten to death after taking part in protest.

On Wednesday, April 8, 2020, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced that the Coronavirus death toll has surpassed 22,000 in 246 cities across Iran. The number of people who lost their lives in Tehran is 2,900, Qom 2200, Gilan 2,000, Isfahan 1,720, Mazandaran 1,720, Khuzestan 940, Golestan 880, Alborz is 800, Fars 420, Zanjan 390, Yazd 370, Qazvin 350, and North Khorasan 240.

Webinar: Iran Regime Justifies Its Incompetence in Combating Coronavirus on Sanctions

On Wednesday, April 8, the National Council of Resistance of Iran’s U.S. Representative Office (NCRI-US) held a webinar, entitled, “Iran COVID-19 Crisis, Sanctions and Tehran’s Response to the Pandemic,”. In the webinar, the NCRI officials and a medical expert addressed the incompetence, cover-up, and negligence of the Iranian regime in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic that has spread to all of Iran’s 31 provinces and caused the death of 22,000 Iranians in 24cities. 

A new report, prepared by the Representative Office of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRIUS), entitled, “How Iran’s Duplicitous Diplomacy, Callous Policies Cost Lives,” was rolled out as well.

“The mullahs’ end is near”: PMOI/MEK Resistance Units

The Iranian regime’s incompetency during the coronavirus crisis in Iran has made it clear that the regime’s end is near. The regime’s officials warn the government about a close wide-spread protest and another uprising that might overthrow the regime and put an end to the dictatorship.
PMOI/MEK units in Iran herald the end of dictatorship raising the people’s motivation to fight both the coronavirus and the regime.

The Washington Times: Dissident group claims coronavirus death toll in Iran tops 20,000

The exiled National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) claimed Wednesday that the government has not been honest about the death toll, and say the toll is more than 20,000 to date with infections more than 500,000 among its 83 million people.

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?

Thursday, April 9, 2020, marks the 147th day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
