Iran: Coronavirus Update, Over 39,000 Deaths, May 4, 2020, 6:00 PM
NUMBER OF VICTIMS (AS OF MAY 4, 2020, 6:00 PM CEST):
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) announced this afternoon, May 4, 2020, that Coronavirus has taken the lives of more than 39,000 in 312 cities across Iran.
The death toll in various provinces include: 6470 in Tehran, 1200 in West Azerbaijan, 1520 in Alborz, 312 in Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, 1970 in Khuzestan, 960 in Kermanshah, 925 in Lorestan, 152 in Hormozgan, 970 in Hamedan. This is in addition to cases registered in other provinces.

Political prisoner Fatemeh Sepehri calls for justice, end to mullahs’ rule
Fatemeh Sepehri: Enough with 41 years of rule worse than Stalin’s
In a message from prison disseminated on May 3, 2020, political prisoner Fatemeh Sepehri called on the people of Iran to join and support political prisoners in their demand for justice.
Rejecting her charges, Ms. Sepehri emphasized, “In prisons and courts of the Islamic Republic, they have behaved worse than Stalin, and worse than any other regime the world has ever experienced, (what they have done) with the lives and properties of people. And they do not feel any shame. They understand neither humanity nor Islam.”

Atena Daemi Refuses to Appear in Court; Protests Fabricated Case
Political prisoner Atena Daemi, a child rights activist, refused to appear in court on May 2, 2020. She was protesting a verbal summons and a case being filed against her.
According to the 32-year-old prisoner, she refused to appear in court for several reasons: the spread of coronavirus in the country; her lack of access to a lawyer; and the insufficient time between receiving the formal notification and the trial date.
Atena had refused to appear in court previously, on March 11, 2020 and again on April 18, 2020, for similar reasons.

The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI / MEK) announced on Sunday, May 3, 2020, that the Coronavirus death toll has exceeded 38,700 in 310 cities across Iran. The number of victims in Khorasan Razavi is 2,920, Khuzestan 1,920, Alborz 1,460, Golestan 1,235, Sistan and Baluchestan 1,055, Hamedan 955, Lorestan 910, and Semnan 895

Iran’s IRGC taking control over hospitals during coronavirus crisis
As senior regime officials in Iran are decreasing coronavirus restrictions and announcing various cities and towns as “white” areas, there are reports indicating quarantine measures being lifted even in some hospitals.
One employee in Sina Hospital of the Iranian capital Tehran said on Saturday, May 2, “There are orders now that coronavirus patients should be hospitalized in all sections throughout the hospital and there will be no quarantine measures!”

WHAT ARE THE IRAN PROTESTS OF 2019?
Monday, May 4, 2020, marks the 172nd day since the beginning of the nationwide Iran protests.
The People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) has identified 755 of the more than 1500 protesters killed by the regime so far.
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) has called on the United Nations to urgently send an international fact-finding mission to Iranian prisons to meet with the detainees.
