Iranian Resistance calls for condemning harassment of families of political prisoners in Iran

ncri-statement

NCRI – Sunday morning, February 7, agents of the Iranian regime’s Ministry of  intelligence and Security and security forces arrested a number of people from Tehran, Mashhad, Esfahan and Shiraz who were to gather in front of Evin Prison on the occasion of the expected release of political prisoner Mr. Mohammad Ali Taheri. The suppressive forces also obstructed Mr. Taheri’s wife and children from leaving their home to go to Evin Prison.

Mr. Taheri who was condemned on mullah-fabricated-charges of “insulting the sanctities, illegal use of scholarly titles, and for misleading books and writings” to five years in prison and Sunday is the last day of his prison term should be released from prison.

The Iranian Resistance calls on international human rights agencies to resolutely condemn the suppressive measures of the religious fascism ruling Iran against the families of political prisoners. These measures indicate regime’s fear of the expansion of protests and popular uprisings.
