US forces must ensure protection of PMOI in Iraq – British MP

NCRI – Concerned with the level of Iranian regime’s terrorist activities in Iraq and following the bombing of a bus carrying Iraqi workers for the People’s Mojahedin, David Amess, Conservative member of the British Parliament, wrote to the UN Secretary General to urge him to ensure safety of the PMOI in Iraq.

"A bus carrying Iraqi workers to the Ashraf City was bombed by agents of the mullahs’ regime near the city of Khalis. These innocent people worked for many years in Ashraf City which is the headquarters of more than 3,000 members of the main Iranian opposition, People’s Dlojahedin of Iran (PMOI). Further, this atrocity took place two days after the visit of the mullahs’ Foreign Minister to Baghdad. It seems that following this visit the Iranian regime has stepped up its terrorist activities against the PMOI and their supporters," said Amess.

He reiterated: "The mullahs must not be allowed to use terrorism to take revenge on the Iranian Resistance for exposing their secret nuclear weapons program. Through this act the mullahs are also taking revenge from the innocent Iraqis who support the Iranian Resistance."

He stressed: "The Iraqi government must recognize the PMOI as political refugees immediately and the U.S. forces must ensure their protection under the 4th Geneva Convention."

The British MP in the end urged the Secretary General "to ensure the safety of the PMOl in Ashraf City in Iraq."
